“Exercise is king. Nutrition is queen. Together, you’ve got a kingdom. If you have a Corvette, you don’t put water in the tank. The human machine deserves the same treatment.” – Jack LaLanne (1914 – 2011)

Good nutrition is the foundation of good health and it is vitally important to learn to eat well. We’re bombarded by so much contradictory advice, marketing-driven distortions of the truth, media scaremongering and a neverending series of fad diets and supplements that it’s really not easy to separate the good from the bad.
Basically, I believe that Michael Pollan‘s advice covers most bases for most of us:
“Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.”
A diet based mainly on fresh vegetables, good quality lean protein, some starch, fresh fruit and good fats, avoiding processed foods as much as possible, is, in my opinion, the best.

If you need a comprehensive guide to changing your eating habits for the better, then I strongly recommend Dr John Berardi’s Precision Nutrition system.
